When most people think of bacteria, they think they are bad — and they often are. However, in 2014, three high-school students from Ireland found a new, good way to use bacteria to help grow more food. The three girls — Ciara Judge, Emer Hickey, and Sophie Healy-Thow — are interested in how science can help feed the Earth's growing population.
CHANGING THE WORLD.
Dylan Mahalingam is a regular American boy. His favorite subjects are math and science. He loves music, and he can play the piano. His hobbies include tennis and basketball. He also likes to swim and snowboard.
Dylan also likes to help people. At nine years old, he and two friends started a non-profit group — Lil' MDGs. They use the Internet to tell young people about education, health, the environment, and other issues around the world.
The group has several goals. One goal is to help people have enough food to eat. Another goal is to help all children go to school. It has helped over one million children around the world so far.
