The boring blocks of a sentence.
Let’s start with the basics. Just as a chord is the building block of a song, or a lie is the building block of a campaign speech, it’s also true that a sentence is the building block of verbal and written communication. Sentences in turn are built with eight different kinds of words called the parts of speech. They are the noun, pronoun, verb, adjective, adverb, preposition, conjunction, and interjection. Since sentences are made up with these words in a specific pattern, understanding the parts of speech and their uses will help you improve both your speaking and your writing.

I know you think that you can just skip over this basic stuff, but you can’t do anything without knowing the basics first. You can’t drive a car without knowing what the accelerator, brake, and steering wheel are. Hell, you can’t even make love without knowing the basic anatomy of the opposite sex (although men have been trying to go around this one for years). Yes, to understand anything, you need to know the basics, and grammar is no exception. So let’s delve into these eight different parts of speech.
