Фрагмент из книги:
The Sahara desert is one of the driest and hottest parts of the world. There, temperatures can rise to 55°C at mid-day. It is a very difficult place to live in. but it is home for the Tuareg people. They share the desert with wild animals such as elephants, snakes and lizards. The Tuaregs look after their goats.
For many years, the Tuaregs moved from place to place. In the past, the rain came every July and the Tuaregs, their goats, the elephants and other wild animals moved to the rivers and water holes. Every year, at the same time, the Tuaregs went to the markets to buy and sell camels and buy food for their journies. This was the way the Tuareg people lived.

DESERTS ARE GROWING!.
Today more than 20% of land is desert, hut this is growing. This picture, for example, from a cave in Algeria, shows cows and people. The area was very green, and plants and grass grew there. Many types of animals lived there. The picture is more than three thousand years old. Today, the cave is in a desert. Why are the deserts growing? There are three main reasons.

One reason is climate. The climate changed and rain did not come every year. The sun is very hot and all the water in the land disappeared.
Another reason is animals. For hundreds of years, people near deserts had goats. Goats like eating plants. If they eat the plants, there aren't any
plants to stop the wind. When the wind comes, it takes all the good soil. Soon, there isn't any good soil and it is very difficult for plants to grow.

A third reason is people. People cut down trees, and trees stop the wind. Also, in some countries, people wanted to make electricity. They changed the direction of the rivers and they built dams. This changed the direction of the water underground in other countries.
