   It introduces and practises the most relevant and useful vocabulary that you need to do well in the First Certificate in English (FCE) exam and then provides exam tasks in which the vocabulary you have learnt can be re-used and practised.

Cambridge Practice Tests for First Certificate 2, Carne P., Hashemi L., Thomas B., 1996.

   The First Certificate in English (FCE) is an examination at intermediate level which is offered by UCLES (the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate). This book contains four practice tests which are very similar to the exam. You can use them to help you prepare for FCE. I had no career plan at all when I graduated – I found work with a very small family-owned paper where I found myself doing all sorts of jobs. While there I decided to train as a journalist. I must be the only person in the universe to ‘fall into’ journalism! A crucial part of my job is building contacts locally. I attend a lot of council meetings to try to fi nd out what is going on with the 15,000 employees and attend numerous other meetings. Why do I do it? It’s certainly not for the money, which is very poor. I really enjoy seeing my words change things. The festival which takes place in Puno each year is one of the largest, longest and most extravagant celebrations in fi esta-mad Peru.
