CLASSIFICATION OF ETHNOSES.

An accurate and complete picture of the world can only be given in a certain way by grouped and systematized information about peoples. Ethnology uses a number of classifications, the totality of which makes it possible to characterize such a complex phenomenon as an ethnos. There are several classifications: among which geographical, anthropological, linguistic, economic classification. Each individual type of classification is not able to reflect the entire ethnic diversity of the world, therefore, all of them should be used together or separately taking into account the specific research tasks.
Geographical classification helps to clarify the habitats of peoples. The peoples of Australia and Oceania, of Asia, of Africa, of America, of Europe, of the Caucasus are distinguished. The peoples of Russia belong to a separate group. Geographical classification does not answer the questions about the origin of peoples, about the processes of their formation, about the economic and cultural appearance of socio-economic development, but allows distributing ethnic groups by a region. This classification is based on the fact of the geographical proximity of peoples and reflects the joint nature of their residence within a certain, most often vast territory.
